In the Fall of 2012, I took a course called Remote Sensing of Natural Resources and the Environment, taught by Dr. Joe Knight. I collaborated with Peter Marinello on a final project in which we assessed lake quality in the Northern Superior Forest ecoregion of Minnesota using MODIS satellite imagery. Due to the time limitations of our project, we were forced to streamline our analysis, leaving the accuracy of our results predictably questionable. None-the-less, our analysis suggested that between 2001, 2006 and 2011, lake clarity on the whole has decreased across Northern Minnesota. Below, you'll find some maps I made for the project.
